What is glou-glou?

Glou-glou is French for the sound of wine being poured into the glass. The word is used for light, fresh and juicy wines, often low in alcohol and tannin, that you drink for pleasure rather than to analyse. It is a style, not a category: it can be red, white, rosé or pét-nat. What unites the wines is that they are easy to like.

How we choose

We list wines that are light in style and come from producers with organic or biodynamic farming, wild yeasts and minimal intervention. Most sit between 10 and 12.5% alcohol. We have not tasted every wine. The texts rely on the producer's own information, importers, Systembolaget's product pages and independent sources, and where sources disagree or something could not be verified we say so. Availability is read from Systembolaget's assortment, so a wine that disappears drops off the list at the next update.

Reading the list

Limited availability means the supplier has flagged the wine as temporarily unavailable, but Systembolaget's product page shows stores with stock. It may be sold out in your own store. The markers New, up and down show what has changed since the last review.

Serving

Light reds do well at 13 to 14 °C, about half an hour in the fridge. Pét-nat is served colder, around 6 to 10 °C.

What we do not list

Easy-drinking wines from large producers that added a "natural" label without the farming and cellar discipline, and cheap light wines without a producer story. Organic or low in alcohol is not enough. We name no wines here, but the advice is simple: start from the producer, not from the label.
