Orange natural wine from Languedoc is made from white grapes with skin contact — days or weeks on the skins give colour, tannin and texture like a red wine would, but with a white grape's fruit and acidity. In a region where producers already work without additives, orange wine is a natural extension of the philosophy: more grape, less manipulation.
Languedoc orange wines can be light and tea-like or more structured with spicy garrigue and firm tannin. Grenache Blanc, Macabeu and other local varieties are common. Many bottles are made to drink now — perfect with spiced food, umami and cheese.
